A Society to Moan About

Sometimes life really pisses you off. I'm a moaner. Not because I enjoy it, contrary to what my long-suffering wife and the majority of the Tucker family think. I moan because there is so much to moan about in this society; Sales people stopping you in the street to ask what mobile phone tariff you're on, tossers with their car stereos on full whack so the whole street may listen to the shite they call "music", children with stupid names... Things piss me off. Why? Perhaps because I let them. Perhaps it is because I can see room for improvement; a compulsively perfectionist mind fused with politician-like opiniation.

Today I was walking through my local supermarket when I realised just what a tribe people still are. We live in a society based on rules, regulations and morals; a suppression of almost every animal instinct mother nature has equipped us with. However come 15 minutes before closing time and a heavy crowd at the checkout; bedlam ensues.

Every day I see lads with Burberry baseball caps slumped on the back seats of busses listening to 50cent out loud on their mobile phones, muppets racing shopping trolleys through supermarket isles like high performance sports cars. Beggars anticipating your "spare change for the bus", most likely only to spend it on another bottle of cheap 99p White Star cider at the nearest newsagent. And wherever I go I'm bombarded with the same sales bullshit; David Beckham telling me to buy a new Gillette razor when I already have three, arrogant pricks in car adverts oozing with charisma in their expensive, flawless automobiles, toilet paper with pictures of fuckin puppies on 'em. I'm fed up.

I will stop moaning some day, but chances are it will only be if I leave England. The same shit goes on all over the world, but for some reason, when I visit other countries such as the USA, it just doesn't annoy me the same, in fact it barely annoys me at all. Perhaps I need a new hobby.

Haha, I couldn't agree with you more on those annoyances. I did find I was more annoyed by things in the US though - especially all the pharmaceutical ads.

I think someone said it before...I'll sait it again - Grumpy old man !! ;-)

You should come down under - you'd have a field day and really have something to moan about - 99.9% of the ads would drive you up the wall - they do me anyway. Either they are screaming so loudly the decibels are going to shatter my windows, either they speak so quickly you'd think they have a bad case of verbal diarrhea, either they look cheap (made with a super 9 camera) or the best I have seen so far is for a (I'm guessing) a local TV station - they had ads in the form of little cardboard boxes on the presneter's desk! lot of shite!

Sorry to hear that society is so frustrating to you. US society isn't picture perfect what-so-ever, and I can go on forever about the things that annoy me here. I guess I just try to find the good with the bad.

Im in a more optimistic mood today and re-reading this post makes me think... perhaps I *should* maybe stop pickin so many faults with everything. I moan too much...
Hang on, does saying "I moan too much" mean im actually moaning about myself? I'm just gettin confused! :)

In other news I seem to have locked myself out of my own blog system... well done stephen. That means I cannot get into the database and can therefore not delete the anoying piece of spam directly above this post. Lucky spamming bastard.

I have to say Steve, I am the same way. I live in a country that is finally starting to get its mind back, but the last five years have been filled with me moaning and groaning about one current event or the other.

I say we embrace it and refine our moaning skills to an artform. :)

just come across your website and i feel i have found solace here. i agree with everything on here along with some of my own which i found today shopping. 1. people who just stop walking right in the middle of the street what the hell made you think no ones behind you. girls who look like they,ve just been spat on the face from a wotsit i mean when the hell did violent orange become an atractive colour. one major thing i hate is when looking for a xmas present in a jewellers theres always someone asking if you need any help when its pretty obvious that if you needed any help you would ask unless you were a mute then i suppose you would poke nevertheless i wouldn,t go up to a person at a restaurant and ask if they needed help cutting there steak probably a little different. anyway enough from me see you laters.
